Wychmere Beach Club is a special place for families and friends to make memories. Lifelong friends have joined together to find the perfect mix of relaxation and leisure. And while many members love staying on our property for the majority of their visits, there’s also so much to do nearby, amongst the charming seaside community of Harwich Port.
Check out these attractions, activities, and delicious spots — there’s something any member of your group will love.
Experiences
1. Cape Cod Baseball League: Catch a Game
Head out to the field to enjoy a day of sports, fun food, and some fresh air at a Cape Cod Baseball League game. With the Harwich Mariners field only a 5-minute car ride away from Wychmere Beach Club, it’s the perfect family-friendly activity to feel even more part of the community.
At the game, try out some fun, novelty dishes like burgers served on jelly donuts. For those less adventurous, they’ve also got your traditional game favorites like hot dogs and nachos.
2. Golfing, Kayaking, and Sportfishing
Some of Harwich’s best golfing, kayaking, and sportfishing are all in close proximity to Wychmere.
Golf
If you’re craving some tee time, check out Cranberry Valley Golf Course in Harwich, which offers a “championship-layout golf course designed by noted architects Geoffrey Cornish and William Robinson. It was rated ‘Excellent’ by Zagat Golf Guide, given ‘4 Stars’ by Golf Digest, and voted as ‘Best of Cape Cod’ 2011.
Its driving range, bunker and practice area were redesigned by Mark Mungeum and is touted as the best practice area on Cape.”
Whether you and your friends want to experience the course yourself, or make it a fun day with the kids at the driving range, Cranberry Valley is worth visiting if you’re interested in golf during your stay, and it’s less than a 10-minute drive from our Club!
Kayaking & Water Activities
If water over land is more your style, make a reservation with Cape Cod Waterways in Dennis, which operates on both Swan Pond River and Bass River Park, in the heart of Cape Cod. Their main location, Swan Pond River, is only about 10 minutes from Wychmere:
“Located right on the banks of the Swan Pond River Cape Cod, Waterways boat rentals offer four different boat models to choose from: kayak, stand up paddle board, canoe, and pedal boat rentals. The Kayaks are user-friendly and available in single and two person models. [They] also offer a ‘family kayak’ that can fit two adults and two toddlers.”
Sportfishing
Get the full Cape Cod experience by heading out to the ocean and spending the day fishing. Do it like an expert with Jail Break Fishing Charters in Harwich. Hop aboard their 42” Duffy Cape Cod charter fishing boat to catch the migrating schools of striped bass and bluefish, which will surely keep you busy the whole ride.
For a more family-friendly or child-oriented fishing activity, take a short trip over to Cap’n Kids Fishing Adventure in Harwich. It’s only a 2-minute drive from Wychmere, or a 15-minute walk! Cap’n Kids offers two-hour trips that are specifically designed for kids. They provide the equipment, the bait, and an experienced crew to guide and educate them.
3. Wellfleet Cinemas Drive-In
Enjoy a movie under the stars at Wellfleet Cinemas in Wellfleet — a classic drive-in theater operating since 1957. It’s the last of its kind on Cape Cod, and one of about 300 left in the country.
4. Art’s Dune Tours
Explore Cape Cod’s one-of-a-kind landscapes with Art’s Dune Tours in Provincetown. Experience the history, culture, and ecology of the Provincetown Dunes in the National Seashore Park.

There are plenty of great Cape Cod craft breweries a short distance from Wychmere. These are some local favorites!
1. Hog Island Beer Co. – Orleans
Hog Island Beer Co. in Orleans made a thoughtful decision six years ago to open their brewery in Cape Cod — “the most picturesque place on the planet.” It’s spacious both inside and out. The outdoor area has games and plenty of seating. Inside, find any table game you could want: ping pong, billiards, foosball, air hockey and more.
2. Devil’s Purse Brewing Company – Dennis
The outdoor area at Devil’s Purse Brewing Company in Dennis is great for yard games, with cornhole boards placed between picnic bench seating. “The indoor area is cozy, with a few table tops, but most of the room is reserved for the brewing operations.”
3. Truro Vineyards – North Truro
Truro Vineyards in North Truro is a Cape Cod local favorite, family owned and operated since 2007. Enjoy a wine tasting under their new pavilion and take a free guided tour of the vineyard.
Bring your appetite, too! Blackfish Restaurant’s Crush Pad Food Truck serves lunch and snacks onsite. Plus, pop into the gift shop to find an assortment of fine cheeses and accompaniments that you can enjoy on our front lawn.

1. Ocean House – Dennis
Named as one of the Top 100 Most Scenic Restaurants by OpenTable, The Ocean House is a contemporary restaurant located on the coast of Dennis, Cape Cod.
Known for expertly crafted cuisine and cocktails, they serve some of the finest ingredients, from locally sourced seafood to organically farmed ingredients. Dine overlooking Nantucket Sound, meet good friends at our famous outdoor Beach Bar, or indulge in a delicious meal with family.
2. Cape Sea Grille – Harwich
If you’re looking for local ingredients, native seafood, and sustainable meats, look no further than Cape Sea Grille in Harwich, right around the corner from Wychmere. Take a short 3-minute drive or 15-minute walk over:
